Abstract
In this article, the article opines on the introduction of intramedullary (IM) nailing of femoral shaft fractures that revolutionized the treatment of catastrophic injuries and the contemporary treatment approaches of femoral fractures. Topics discussed include development of interlocking nails, techniques evolved that allows cephalomedullary screw placement, and a variety of acceptable insertion sites including trochanteric and intercondylar for retrograde nailing.
