Abstract
A newp-hydroxybenzoic acid derivative named 4-(2′R, 4′-dihydroxybutoxy) benzoic acid (1) was isolated from the fermentation ofPenicilliumsp. R22 inNerium indicum. The structure was elucidated by means of spectroscopic (HR-ESI-MS, NMR, IR, UV) and X-ray crystallographic methods. The antibacterial and antifungal activity of compound1was tested, and the results showed that compound1revealed potent antifungal activity againstColletotrichum gloeosporioides,Alternaria alternata, andAlteranria brassicaewith MIC value of 31.2 μg/ml.
