Abstract
This article explores the difficulties of administering anticoagulation treatment to patients with renal failure. It presents several studies that examine the safety and effectiveness of different anticoagulation options in this patient population. One potential treatment option discussed is subcutaneous unfractionated heparin (SCUFH), which offers advantages such as no monitoring requirements and the ability to administer it in an ambulatory setting. The article concludes with a retrospective study that reports the outcomes of inpatients who received SCUFH for therapeutic anticoagulation, including bleeding episodes and survival rates. The study also acknowledges the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on treatment approaches. Overall, the article emphasizes the challenges faced by healthcare providers in managing patients with renal impairment and calls for further research to optimize anticoagulant strategies in this population.
