Abstract
This article from the Archives of Hellenic Medicine presents a case study of a 69-year-old female patient who presented with progressive back pain radiating to her left leg, worsened during walking. The patient had a medical history of hypertension, diabetes mellitus, hypercholesterolemia, paroxysmal atrial fibrillation, and glaucoma. X-rays revealed arthritic bone lesions and calcification of the iliac arteries. The most probable diagnosis is intermittent claudication, which can be challenging to diagnose in older individuals who may downplay their symptoms. The article emphasizes the importance of considering potential vascular issues and conducting precise inquiries and examinations to evaluate and measure the condition. The primary intervention for this case was a balloon-expandable stent to manage a high-grade left common iliac stenosis. [Extracted from the article]
