Abstract
Dr. Eng Meng Tan, a renowned medical researcher and physician, passed away on March 9, 2024, at the age of 97 in La Jolla, California. He was born and raised in Malaysia and obtained his Bachelor of Arts & Science degree in 1952 and Doctor of Medicine degree in 1956 from Johns Hopkins University. Throughout his career, Dr. Tan made significant contributions to the field of rheumatology, particularly in the areas of rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and autoimmune diseases. He published over 350 research articles and served in various leadership roles in national and international organizations. Dr. Tan was also known for his dedication to mentorship and his love for literature, music, and tennis. He is survived by his wife, two sons, four grandchildren, and siblings.
