Abstract
This article reports on a case study of a 49-year-old woman of Indian ethnicity who developed tongue protrusion and feeding dystonia as a result of spinocerebellar ataxia type 12 (SCA12). The woman initially experienced tremors in her upper limbs, which later progressed to involve her head and voice. Over time, her symptoms worsened, affecting her speech, handwriting, and balance. The article highlights the presence of dystonic masticatory movements and task-specific tongue protrusion as characteristic features of the condition. The study suggests that dystonia can be a predominant and disabling symptom in SCA12. [Extracted from the article]
