Abstract
The article uses Samuel Beckett's play "Waiting for Godot" as a parallel to a typical biology classroom. The authors explain that in many classrooms the students are merely waiting, either for the teacher to tell them an answer to a question or for the end of class just as the characters in the play are waiting for Godot. They contend that teachers should relate to their students in order to get them to actively participate in class.
