Abstract
The article presents a study which examines a new mimotonid, Gomphos ellae, from the Middle Eocene of Tsagaan Khutel locality in Mongolia, and its implications for the Lagomorpha. Although the exact age of Gomphos ellae remains uncertain, it possibly represents one of the youngest recorded species of mimotonids. The new specimen shows both mimotonid and lagomorph features. Gomphos ellae has several mimotonid characteristics such as mesoconids on the lower cheek teeth and an extra set of lower incisors. The diastemal length of Gomphos ellae shows its possible association with lagomorphs.
