Abstract
The article discusses how coal-fired plants in the U.S. benefit from using non-traditional pulverized limestone reagent in their wet limestone flue gas desulfurization (GFD) systems. Southern Co. is one of electric utilities that explored the use of pre-processed limestone reagent. Some of the benefits of non-traditional pulverized limestone supply are capital savings, reduced parasitic power consumption, independence of limestone supply, and reduced environmental impact.
