Abstract
Ignition and extinction are important research topics in combustion science. In the framework of bifurcation theory, ignition and extinction correspond to saddle-node bifurcation points in a classical S-shaped steady-state curve. Therefore, they can be studied using bifurcation analysis tools. The detection of bifurcation points is computationally very demanding if detailed chemical mechanisms with several hundreds of species and thousands of chemical reactions are adopted to model fuel-air combustion. In this work, a new formulation of test function for saddle-node bifurcations is proposed in order to reduce the computational cost of the bifurcation analysis algorithm. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
